We could help so many simply by making Alabama's taxes less regressive - untaxing groceries would be a great step in that direction. Our family engages the gospel first and foremost at St. John's. And that's where our giving is focused. But the local church has no monopoly on what God is doing. Sure, most of us join in God's work through a local church, but some of us instead take part in Habitat for Humanity or the United Way or some other organization's work. Pulling from some of the language in Deuteronomy, I'd say we are called to bring our offering and share it--enjoy it, drink it, eat it, celebrate with it. Where is that for you? Of all the places where is God turning the world upside down so that widows and orphans are first in the kingdom, which one(s) is/are closest to you?Evan D.
